Note To All Customers
To whom it may concern,
We have had a small number of customers express various concerns about Jump In offering click and collect services for food items, which we would like to address.
Are you making a big profit?
No. The cost of the items to us, plus the price of a jump ticket included in the hamper, is more than the price we are selling the hampers for. We are a small company without the buying power of big supermarkets, so we are unable to purchase goods as cheaply as they can. We have also not done this before and are doing it on a very small scale, as a trial to begin with, so our operations are not as efficient as a supermarket’s. If we can find ways to make savings with our suppliers, we will pass them on.
Are you using food that the supermarkets could use?
Our suppliers are wholesale suppliers that normally supply to caterers or leisure venues, like ourselves, most of which are now shut but who are also attempting to offer takeaway services as advised by the UK Government. We would never knowingly jeopardise people’s ability to purchase food from normal channels.
Why can’t you offer different foods?
At the moment we’re just trialling the concept with items that our suppliers have lots of stock of. As we run the trial we’ll speak to customers about what would help them most. Then if we can make the service better we will.
Why are you doing this?
Between our suppliers and ourselves we can offer a small scale click and collect food service which requires minimum human contact and no queuing. We think this is useful to people right now. Our suppliers usually supply to catering companies which are now closed. We have a booking system which allows for time slot bookings, we have locations close to towns/ cities, we have good sized car parks and a team wanting to do something good. We’ve noticed that supermarkets are struggling to service the needs of the population and we think this might relieve some of those problems in a relatively safe way.
Two other things
As far as we can, we are reducing environmental waste by reusing the boxes that the goods are delivered in to package the hampers for customers. We are also taking appropriate unsold stock to local food banks.
Please bear with us. We are used to hosting kids’ parties, providing safe spaces for family fun and jumping on trampolines. We can’t do this right now and want to do something useful instead. We are still learning about how best to offer click and collect services and hope to make the service better and more efficient with practice.
One last thing. Many of our team have family and friends working in hospitals on the front line in the fight against Coronavirus. For their sakes, please follow Government guidance https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus .
We hope to welcome you back to Jump In when we are back to doing what we do best.
